Bees Bees Bees
As a group we read 3 articles on the conversation of the neonicotnoid pesticides affecting bees. Below in the link to our google doc summarizing the articles.
We also went over the colony collapse disorder that has been happening in the United States. We went over information given to us, made graphs, as well as predictions. In this project we learned about bee colony collapse disorder. We learned how bee populations are decreasing due to a variety of factors. The main factor contributing to this disorder are neonicotinoids that affect the queen of the colony. Also, the stress of the bees being constantly moved to pollinate crops cause the bees to die. Scientists are working on finding a way to vaccinate bees against neonicotinoids. They are also trying to find alternatives for using bees to farm, so they don't tire quickly. To view data better, we made curve fits. I learned about curve fits and how different types of graphs fit the curve in a set of data. Below is the link to the google dock on which we did it on.
