Make It Better
In this project we were given the chance to revisit our previous projects and revise them. What I mean by that is, make them better. If you didn't like it, then you can fix it. For our group we decided to fix our physics of sports video. Our video is on the physics of fielding for baseball and softball, infield and outfield. We went into a very deep explanation of the physics beinde fielding. That way we all could get a better understanding of fielding and what the major league player actually do. This project was our last one of our freshman year. In my grouped we worked together to make it to our liking. Making our project better than our originals.
Concepts
All concepts are thoroughly explained in video, but here they are in shorter terms
Velocity: The Speed of something in a given direction
Acceleration: To increase the rate or speed of something
Momentum: The quantity motion of a moving body measured as a product of its mass and velocity
Gravity: A force which tries to pull two objects toward each other. Gravity has a force of 9.8 m/s. It is very important with velocity because it affects how fast and how far an object goes.
Free Fall: downward movement under the force of gravity only.
Angle of Release: This is the angle at which you release the ball when you are throwing it. People commonly throw at an 80-100 degree angle, depending on the person of course though.
Parabolic Motion: Parabolic motion can be describe as an object moving in the way a parabola looks. We most commonly see this in fielding when an outfielder is throwing the ball into the infield. Because they are trying to get it all the way in the ball takes on a parabolic motion due to the angle the outfielder has thrown it at.
This has been one of a few of my favorite projects. We got to go back and fix what we didn't like, how absolutely amazing is that. Of course though with every project there are peaks and pits. Our groups major pit was timing. We were still rushing at the end to get our video completed. One other silly pit we had was the video wouldn't send/load. Meaning when we presented we had some technical difficulties and ended up showing the class our video on the I-pad. That wasn't to great. Now we know for next time though. One peak I had was my group. My group was amazing we had fun and got the work done too. Another peak I had was just getting to do this sort of project. In everything we do there is always something we think we can do better. That being said it was a great opportunity for us to look back and see what we could do better. Something I wish my group would have done is got the video finished earlier. That way we wouldn't have been having technical difficulties on the presentation day. This project has allowed me to get a chance to fix something I did. To make it better.
